Thursday the groups, members of the community and nonprofits came together at a community conversation facilitated by UNCWto go over an immediate and long-term action plan to do just that.
The meeting, held at the Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center on South Eighth Street, was an update of a community conversation that started in 2013 during a rash of gang gunfire and shooting deaths in the city.
Six months after their last meeting, “clusters” of group members focusing on education, prevention and intervention, law enforcement relations and jobs told community members how they could help.
