Afaf Konja, spokesperson for the President of the United Nations General Assembly 68th session, affirmed that global partnerships are essential to the success of the UN’s missions. “In order for sustainable development to be something that could actually be put into action and build and form, it’s going to take a number of innovative partnerships, greater partnerships, and of course, it’s going to take political will, commitment, and innovative financing to make it happen,” she said.
Ambassadors Donoghue and Kamau were recognized for showing “leadership in bringing everybody together,” Lorenzo explained. “For more than three months, we were negotiating here at the UN, and finally, the draft document was adopted.”
