Post 2015 development agenda adopted

After over two years of negotiations, the agenda was finally agreed in August among the UN’s 193 member states. It includes 17 sustainable development goals, which focus on a number of issues affecting the world, including poverty and hunger, health, education, gender equality and the environment.

The three-day summit kicked off on Friday at the UN headquarters, as a high-level plenary meeting of the General Assembly. On Saturday China will co-host the south-south cooperation roundtable. And on Sunday it will jointly hold the Global Summit of Women.
