Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa has sent his condolences to the families of those who were killed and wished a speedy recovery to the injured pilgrims.
Ramaphosa’s spokesperson Ronnie Mamoepa said, “Deputy President Ramaphosa said for South Africans the stampede was particularly tragic because it coincided with our national Heritage Day which is an occasion dedicated to celebrating the adversity of the nation and humanity at large.”
