The PACT declaration, or Polynesia against Climate Threats, is due to be signed tomorrow at marae Taputapuatea on Raiatea. It comes ahead of the United Nations climate change conference in Paris at the end of the year. The president of French Polynesia, Edouard Fritch, says he hopes the declaration will be heard at the highest level of the international community.
He says he hopes it will result in an agreement at the climate change conference in Paris.
Mr Fritch says the Pacific will be first to pay the price for the international community’s inconsistencies and says the stakes are high for getting an agreement.
