The Deputy Minister is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with his counterpart, Jose Lius Cancela.
He is also expected to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on the establishment of a bilateral consultation mechanism between South Africa and Uruguay.
“This MoU is important for the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries,” the Department of International Relations and Cooperation spokesperson, Clayson Monyela, said on Monday.
Uruguay regards South Africa as a gateway into Africa, with the country having only two embassies on the continent, namely Pretoria and Cairo.
