Renewing the global partnership for development is essential, said UN General Assembly President John Ashe while addressing the General Assembly’s high-level event on the “Contributions of North- South, South-South, Triangular Cooperation, and ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) for Development to the Implementation of the Post-2015 Agenda.”

Ashe said that the rising power and might of countries of the global South opened the landscape of opportunities to include new forms of development cooperation, when dealing with financing of the global development agenda beyond 2015, the deadline for the anti-poverty targets known as the Millennium Development Goals ( MDGs).
