Current emission reduction pledges made by countries represent around 80% of the global total emissions. This is significant, but falls short of reductions needed to stay within the 2 degrees Celsius upper limit on warming.

In Warsaw countries agreed that work around the ambition of emission reductions needs to be intensified through a process of technical examinations of opportunities that yield high emission reductions as well as sustainable development benefits.
