In a press conference, Theodor Friedrich, FAO representative to the island, asserted that these programs contribute to boost food security in the region. He praised the excellent training of technicians and the staff linked to research, who can contribute to the generalization of knowledge in many nations. Friedrich considered that a change in production models is needed in the country in order to be able to influence on the increase of food volumes, and in this regard he referred to preservation agriculture.
