The forum also aims to develop a common position, which can be used for future negotiations. The importance of this forum lies in its distinct potential to develop a position based on the common needs of the sub-regions and to generate skills for arguing this position in the multilateral fora. During the opening session, Tanzania’s Minister for Agriculture, Hon. Jumanne Abdallah Maghembe highlighted the climate change-food security nexus was especially brought to fore and stressed government’s commitment to practical measures for ensuring the capacity to address the climate challenge.
