Mabutho Shangase is a Doctoral Researcher, at the Centre of African Studies, School of Social and Political Science, University of Edinburgh. He holds an MA degree in Development Studies from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg (2008) and an MBA in Public Services Management from Aston University, Birmingham, United Kingdom (2005), on a Chevening Scholarship. He has more than ten years work experience in the South African public service where he worked in policy and planning across three departments.
Main academic interests: SA Public Policy, Neoliberalism, SA Political Economy, Foucauldian Discourse Analysis.
