Supporting proactive African in engaging in negotiating of some of the world’s most intractable problems, the IGD’s environmental diplomacy programme aims to:

• consider Africa’s strategic position in the international environmental regime;
• contribute to knowledge development and capacity building in support of the continent’s ‘green’ diplomats in negotiations;
• advance international cooperation on the environment for a better Africa and better world;
• address questions of reform in promoting engagement, accountability and transparency in the governance of the international environmental regime.
