Staff positions
From time to time, the IGD looks for energetic, intelligent and interested analysts and administrators to fill vacancies when they become available. Some of these vacancies are advertised in the media and the website.
Internships, student assistance and volunteers
The IGD offers masters and PhD students internships ranging from 3-12 months every year, please write to the executive director of the IGD for further information.
An internship programme offered in partnership with the National Research Foundation (NRF) is also available for recent graduates; please visit the NRF website for more information.
The IGD also offers senior students studying towards relevant diplomas and degrees to serve as student assistants on a volunteer basis.
Fellowships
The IGD welcomes international researchers on short self-funded research visits to South Africa and the region to spend some time at the IGD. Former diplomats who are interested in research and analysis on foreign policy and diplomacy or in writing their memoirs using IGD’s space are also welcome. Given the fact that competition for office space is generally high, those interested in these fellowships are encouraged to write to the executive director 3 months in advance.
