Durban BRICS Summit
'The Durban BRICS Summit: Partnership for Development and Integration': The media hype and international attention that centered on Durban during the 5th BRICS summit (26-27 March) has faded. As the dust settles a number of lingering questions remain around the role of south-south cooperation and the establishment of a BRICS development bank, as well as the implications of the eThekwini Declaration and Action Plan for international cooperation more generally and for Africa in particular. On 03 May 2013, The Institute for Global Dialogue hosted a diplomacy dialogue at Kwame Nkrumah Hall, UNISA Building, to discuss and assess the outcomes of the Durban Summit and its implications for Africa and wider south-south development cooperation. Speakers included Prof Chris Landsberg (UJ) and Dr Rasigan Maharajh, TUT and the discussant Dr Siphamandla Zondi (IGD).
