SADC committed to regional integration
The Southern African Development Community Executive Secretary Dr Stergomena Lawrence Tax has committed herself to the SADC regional Integration agenda. She made the remarks when she was presenting her opening remarks to the SADC Council of Ministers being held in Lilongwe. "I feel indeed honored and humbled to have been given the opportunity and privilege to contribute to the SADC regional integration agenda. "I wish to assure you of my firm commitment to the SADC regional integration agenda, and pledge to work together. I count on your support of achieving the objectives in pursuit of achieving the objectives of our organization," said Tax to the various ministers drawn from the 15 member states. Subsequently, the Executive Secretary took time to welcome the Republic of Madagascar back to the SADC family. She said Madagascar comes back into SADC following the holding of peaceful general elections between October and December 2013 which led to the restoration of constitutional normalcy in the country."However, we are aware that there are still challenges to normalize the socio-economic situation in the country but your presence here today is a strong indication that you are gradually overcoming and turning those challenges into opportunities," said Tax.
